A ‘’Bimbingan Belajar’’ Meningkatkan Literasi dan Numerasi Siswa SDN 1 Kalijaga Timur Melalui Pojok Baca
Abstract
Education is the main key in the development of individuals and society. However, the low literacy and numeracy culture in Indonesia, as reflected in the research results from the world body UNESCO, which noted that reading interest in Indonesia only reached 0.001%, indicates a major challenge in the world of education. This study focuses on the community service program carried out by Hamzanwadi University students at SDN 1 Kalijaga Timur, with the aim of improving student literacy and numeracy through intensive guidance and utilization of reading corners. The methods used in this study include observation, interviews, and documentation. Preparation of work programs, and implementation of literacy and numeracy guidance outside of class hours by utilizing the school library as a place to create reading corners. The results of the service show that the reading corner has succeeded in increasing students' enthusiasm for learning, which is reflected in the increased ability to read, write, count, and reason students, especially in grades 1 to 3. This program has also succeeded in creating a pleasant environment for students, so that it can help overcome the difficulties they face in learning literacy and numeracy. Thus, this program plays an important role in improving the quality of education, especially in the aspects of literacy and numeracy at SDN 1 Kalijaga Timur.
