Laundry wastewater contains various pollutants, one of which is phosphate, which has the potential to pollute the environment if not treated properly. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a constructed wetland system using Equisetum hyemale plants in reducing phosphate levels and other pollutant parameters in laundry wastewater. A constructed wetland system was designed with sand equipped with Equisetum hyemale plants as phytoremediation agents. Laundry wastewater was flowed through the system for 5 days, samples were analysed daily with 3 time intervals to measure pH and Phosphate parameters. The results showed that the constructed wetland system with Equisetum hyemale was able to reduce phosphate levels by 96.75% within 5 days. The effectiveness of this system shows that Equisetum hyemalehas potential as an effective phytoremediation agent in reducing pollutant content in laundry wastewater. Phytoadsorption is the main mechanism in phosphate removal by Equisetum hyemaleaccording to the first-order kinetics model with R2 0.9014.
