This research is motivated by the results of competency tests physical education and sports teachers have not reached the minimum standards set by the government. Teacher professional development activities carried out to improve the skills, abilities and knowledge.. This research is a descriptive study to explain the phenomena found. While the approach used is qualitative approach with direct interviews and document study then conducted data triangulation. The results showed: (1) A total of 86.67% of teachers self-development activities. The largest percentage of activity than the two other activities, in other words it can be said that the self-development activities more attractive to teachers, (2) A total of 20.74% of teachers do scientific publication activity. The smallest percentage of this activity than the other two activities, it demonstrates that the activity of scientific publications is rarely done by the teacher, (3) A total of 64.44% of teachers are able to create / modify learning tool, it is certainly very helpful to make learning meaningful. This activity shows the percentage of the number of teachers who did groundbreaking work activity, also showed that the activity of the innovative work can help direct the learning process by teachers, (4) obtaining an average score of 30.2 out of professional development activities are not much different with the acquisition scores average teacher competency test results. The conclusions obtained from this research is that professional development activities undertaken by teachers is one of the factors that can help improve teacher competency test results.
