Peran Guru Pendidikan Jasmani dalam Membangun Mental Peserta Didik di SDN 99 Pongrakka

This study was motivated by the issue of low mental development among students despite the efforts of physical education teachers to instill character values through learning. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the role of physical education teachers and the mental development of students at SDN 99 Pongrakka. The method used is descriptive quantitative with a correlational approach. The research sample consisted of 27 fifth-grade students selected using a saturated sampling method. Data were collected using a closed questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation test. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between the role of PJOK teachers and students' mental development, with a correlation coefficient of -0.115 and a significance value of 0.567 (p > 0.05). Although descriptively both variables were in the high category, the statistical relationship between the two was not proven. The conclusion of the study indicates that students' mental development is influenced by multidimensional factors beyond the role of physical education teachers, such as family environment, social conditions, and other support systems. The implication is that a more holistic and collaborative approach is needed to optimize the role of physical education in the mental development of students.
