Abstract

Low student interest and motivation in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning is a critical issue at SD Negeri 19 Mappesau. Initial observations show symptoms of disinterest and inactivity among students, especially in grade V, which are strongly suspected to be related to limited sports facilities and infrastructure and teaching methods that lack variety. This study aims to analyze the level of student interest and motivation and identify the factors that influence them. The method used is quantitative descriptive with data collection techniques through questionnaires. The research sample consisted of 12 students from grade V selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that student interest was in the moderate category (42%), with intrinsic interest being more dominant. Meanwhile, student motivation was also in the moderate category (50%), with extrinsic motivation being lower due to the impact of limited facilities. The conclusion of the study reveals that the root of the problem lies not only in the internal aspects of students, but more in external factors such as the lack of sports equipment and teaching approaches that are not yet contextual. The implication is that context-aware teaching strategies and innovations in the use of local resources are needed to create more effective and enjoyable PJOK learning.
