Abstract

The implementation of inclusive education in Mataram City faces challenges, particularly the lack of teaching methods that can accommodate diverse student abilities, which hampers social interaction and active participation. This study aims to: (1) identify traditional sports suitable for inclusive education principles, (2) develop a learning model based on modified traditional sports, and (3) evaluate the effectiveness of the model in improving students' motor skills and social interaction. This research applies a sequential explanatory mixed-methods approach, involving expert validation, small-scale (n=20), and large-scale (n=40) field trials in an inclusive elementary school. The results show that the developed model, featuring modified games such as Jemprak/Engklek and sack racing in relay format, is highly effective. Observation scores for motor skills including balance, agility, and coordination reached above 95%, while student questionnaire responses indicated over 90% positive reception. The model was also validated as "very good" by experts (average score 4.5/5). In conclusion, modified traditional sports-based learning proves feasible and effective in fostering motor development and inclusive participation in primary education.
