The economic potential of recreational sports in local destinations in Indonesia has often not been comprehensively studied, resulting in suboptimal development and the risk of unequal benefits and environmental pressure. This study aims to analyze the economic impact of recreational sports activities on the local economy and tourism sector in Semarang Regency, as well as to formulate evidence-based policy recommendations. The research method uses a mixed methods approach with a survey of 385 respondents (tourists, business actors, community members) and in-depth interviews with 15 key informants. Data analysis was conducted using economic impact analysis and thematic analysis. The results of the study show that the total economic impact reaches IDR 88.45 billion per year with a multiplier effect of 1.87, as well as creating 2,340 jobs. The MSME sector was the main beneficiary, with 78% of business actors reporting an increase in income. However, 64% of the community expressed concerns about environmental degradation. It was concluded that recreational sports are a significant driver of inclusive economic growth, but their sustainability depends on management that is able to balance economic growth, equitable distribution of benefits, and environmental preservation through integrated and participatory policies.
