About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Fajar Historia: Jurnal Ilmu Sejarah dan Pendidikan is a journal of the latest studies in the field of history and historical education. This journal is openly dedicated to recent contributions in both theoretical and critical historical research covering world history, Indonesian history, and local history. In the field of history education, this journal study covers curriculum development, history learning strategies, history learning methods, evaluation of history learning, and other matters related to improving the quality of history education in Indonesia.
Peer Review Process
Fajar Historia is a scientific journal published so that only scientific manuscripts are accepted in the form of scientific articles that have never been published. The policies in the review process in Fajar Historia Journal are as follows:
- The review process involves writers, editors, section editors, and reviewers.
- The review process is carried out using double-blind peer review. The identity of the reviewer and author is hidden from the reviewer and vice versa.
- The editor first checks each submitted article to see if it follows the focus, scope, and guidelines and checks for plagiarism.
- Two reviewers will review the article to ensure the quality of the article from the title, abstract, discussion, and conclusion.
- Articles go through a review process for six weeks with the criteria for evaluating the manuscript as stated in the Article Assessment Form for reviewers.
- The reviewer explains the novelty and contribution of the article to scientific discussion.
- Reviewers provide feedback on whether the article deserves to be accepted, rejected, and needs minor or major revisions.
Publication Frequency
Fajar Historia: Jurnal Ilmu Sejarah dan Pendidikan is published twice a year, in June and December. The articles are published collectively according to the publication schedule. Each issue will be published around 8-11 articles.
Open Access Policy
Fajar Historia journal provides open access to anyone so that the information and findings in the article are useful for everyone. If the data in this article is used as material for writing articles or others, you must quote and include the name of the author of the article in the article created. Fajar Historia journal can be accessed and downloaded for free, free of charge.
Publication Ethics
Section 1: Publication and Authorship
- All submitted manuscripts must go through a rigorous peer-review process by reviewers who are experts in the field of the manuscript.
- The review process is carried out by double-blind peer-review.
- The factors considered in the review are relevance, novelty, significance, originality (authenticity), readability, and language.
- Decisions included in this journal are acceptance, acceptance with revision, or rejection.
- If authors are encouraged to revise and resubmit a submission, there is no guarantee that the revised submission will be accepted.
- Manuscripts that are rejected will not be reviewed.
- Acceptance of manuscripts is limited by applicable legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism.
- No study may be included in more than one publication.
Section 2: Author's Responsibilities
- Author must certify that the manuscript or article has not previously been published elsewhere.
- Authors must state that the manuscript is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Authors must participate in the peer-review process.
- The author is obliged to provide revocation or correction of errors.
- All authors mentioned in the manuscript must have contributed to the research.
- The author must certify that all data in the paper are authentic.
- Authors must notify the Editor of any conflicts of interest.
- Authors must identify all sources used in the creation of their manuscripts.
- Authors must report any errors they find in their published paper to the Editor.
Section 3: Reviewer's Responsibilities
- Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding the manuscript and treat it as important information.
- The review must be done objectively, without personal criticism of the author.
- Reviewers must express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
- Reviewers should identify relevant published work that the authors have not cited.
- Reviewers should also contact the Editor in Chief if there are substantial similarities or overlaps between the manuscript under consideration and other published papers of which they have personal knowledge.
- Reviewers may not review manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest resulting from a competitive, collaborative, or other relationship or connection with the author, company, or institution to which the article relates.
Section 4: Editor's Responsibilities
- The Editor has full responsibility and authority to reject/accept an article.
- Editors are responsible for the content and overall quality of the publication.
- Editors should always consider the needs of writers and readers when trying to improve publications.
- Editors must ensure the quality of the paper and the integrity of the academic record.
- The Editor must publish an error page or make corrections when necessary.
- Editors must have a clear picture of the sources of research funding.
- Editors should base their decisions solely on the paper's importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the publication's scope.
- Editors may not reverse their decision or overturn a previous editor's decision without serious reason.
- Editors must maintain the anonymity of reviewers.
- Editors must ensure that all research material they publish complies with nationally and internationally accepted ethical guidelines.
- Editors should only accept the article if they are reasonably certain.
- Editors must act if they suspect infringement, whether an article is published or unpublished, and make all reasonable efforts to persist in getting the issue resolved.
- Editors may not reject articles based on suspicion; they must have proof of infringement.
- Editors must not allow any conflict of interest between the assistant Editor, authors, reviewers, and editorial board members.
Screening Plagiarism
Editors will run a plagiarism check using Ithenticate or Turnitin for submitted articles before submitting them to reviewers. If an article has more than 20% plagiarized content based on the inspection results, we will send the paper back to the author for revision. The editor will reject the manuscript if the article has more than 50% plagiarized content.

Fajar Historia: Jurnal Ilmu Sejarah dan Pendidikan is the name of the journal proposed for ISSN submission through http://issn.pdii.lipi.go.id/ and has received an e-ISSN (2549-5585) with SK Number: 0005.25495585/JI. 3.1/SK.ISSN/2017.02 dated February 18, 2017. Fajar Historia: Jurnal Ilmu Sejarah dan Pendidikan, referred to as Fajar Historia, is intended to make it easier for readers and writers to identify the journal's name.
Fajar Historia first published an article in Vol. 1 No. June 1, 2017. Fajar Historia journal is managed by the Department of History Education, Faculty of Social Sciences and Economic, Universitas Hamzanwadi and published by Universitas Hamzanwadi. Fajar Historia has been indexed by Sinta, Google Scholar, Garuda, Indonesia OneSearch, Crossref, Scilit, Dimensions, PKP Index, and Moraref. Fajar Historia journal has been accredited Rank 4 (SINTA 4) since December 23, 2020, based on the Decree of the Minister of Research and Technology/Brin Number: 200/ M/KPT/2020 concerning Academic Journal Accreditation Ranking Period III of 2020.
As part of good journal management intending to improve the quality of management and articles in the Fajar Historia Journal, the manager has revised the guide for writing article manuscript templates for authors. Several things have been revised, including the systematics of writing, templates, minimum references that must be referred to, the number of pages of article manuscripts, and others. Complete information can be accessed through the Ethics Publication page. This policy applies to publishing articles in Vol. 5 No. 1, June 2021 and beyond.
Since 3 October 2022, Fajar Historia Journal has been accredited Rank 3 (SINTA 3), previously rising from Rank 4 (Sinta 4) to Rank 3 (Sinta 3). This rank is based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 204/E/KPT/2022 concerning the Accreditation Ranking of Scientific Journals for Period II of 2022.
Starting in 2024, the frequency of publication of articles in Fajar Historia will change from 2 to 3 times a year, namely in April, August, and December. This change was made after receiving approval from the Director of the National Center for ISSN Indonesia, BRIN.
