PERELATIFAN DALAM PODCAST MALAKA EPISODE CINTA LAURA DAN SISI GELAP SELEBRITI: KAJIAN TIPOLOGI

Abstract

Conversations in podcasts often naturally use relative clauses when speakers want to explain or provide additional information about the topic being discussed. Therefore, this study aims to identify and describe the types of relativization, relativization strategies, and the functions of relative clauses in the YouTube Malaka podcast episode titled “Cinta Laura and the Dark Side of the Celebrity World.” The research data consists of utterances containing relative clauses in the Malaka YouTube podcast episode titled “Cinta Laura and the Dark Side of the Celebrity World.” The data collection method in this study is the listening method with the free listening technique. Meanwhile, the data was analyzed using the distribution method with the direct element division technique. The results show that there are 107 relative markers “yang”, 18 relative markers “di mana”, 5 relative markers “yang mana”, and 1 relative marker “yang di mana”. Meanwhile, the relative strategies that appear are elision, pronominal retention, and repetition strategies. In this case, the functions that are related are the subject, object, and oblique functions. The findings of this study show important implications, especially in the study of language typology, that in Indonesian, it is not only the “subject” function that can be relativized.
