NILAI RELIGIUS CERPEN SEMAK BELUKAR KARYA DANARTO: IMPLIKASI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER

Abstract

This study aims to examine and describe the religious values contained in Danarto’s short story “Semak Belukar”, so that the findings can serve as a reference for literature enthusiasts as well as a source for literature teaching that focuses on the development of virtuous character. Through literary works—particularly short stories rich in religious meaning—it is expected that readers can internalize moral and spiritual values and apply them in their daily lives. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with the purpose of systematically portraying the forms and meanings of religious values found in the literary text without manipulating the data. The data source of this study is Danarto’s short story “Semak Belukar”, with data consisting of words, phrases, and sentences that contain religious values. The data analysis technique was conducted in four stages: (a) carefully reading the text to identify religious elements, (b) describing the data according to the story’s context, (c) interpreting the meaning of the religious values contained within, and (d) drawing conclusions based on the categories of religious values. The findings reveal three main aspects of religious values in the short story: moral values (seven instances), sharia values (four instances), and creed values (six instances). These three aspects indicate that through his short story, Danarto not only presents a symbolic and mystical narrative but also offers a profound spiritual reflection on the relationship between humans, God, fellow human beings, and the universe. Thus, this work possesses great potential as a medium for religious character education and can enrich readers’ understanding of Islamic and humanistic values in Indonesian literature.
