Investigation Procedures
The initial stage of handling an allegation involves verifying its validity and determining whether it meets the criteria for research misconduct. This process also includes identifying any potential conflicts of interest related to the individuals involved. If credible concerns arise regarding scientific errors or significant research irregularities, the matter will be communicated to the corresponding author, who will be asked to provide a comprehensive explanation on behalf of all co-authors. Upon reviewing the response, the editors may seek further evaluation from independent experts, such as statistical reviewers, to ensure an objective assessment. In situations where misconduct is deemed unlikely, clarification or additional analysis may be published, often in the form of a letter to the editor, accompanied by corrections or amendments to the original article when necessary.

Academic institutions are expected to conduct thorough and impartial investigations into allegations of research misconduct.
