Post-Publication Discussion
Tamumatra: Jurnal Seni Pertunjukan welcomes scholarly discussion of its published articles. Readers, authors, researchers, educators, and arts practitioners may request clarification, offer an alternative interpretation, or draw attention to evidence affecting an article. Discussion should advance understanding of arts education and the performing arts of drama, dance, and music, while helping maintain an accurate scholarly record.
Submitting a comment or concern
Send correspondence to the editorial office through the journal's Contact Us page. Identify the article by title, author, DOI or URL, and explain the passages or findings being discussed. Include a clear account of the issue, relevant references or documentary evidence, your contact details, and any relationship or interest relevant to the article. Please indicate whether you seek clarification, consideration of a scholarly comment, or investigation of a possible error or ethical concern.
Scope and supporting evidence
Comments may address research methods, interpretation of performances, educational conclusions, attribution of artistic work, or the historical and cultural framing of an argument. For example, a comment might question the identification of a dance form, the interpretation of a musical passage, or whether classroom observations support a stated learning outcome. Explain the basis of the disagreement and distinguish documented facts from aesthetic judgement or a different theoretical perspective.
Provide sufficient context for supporting material, including dates, performance versions, locations, and the provenance of recordings or documents where relevant. Do not disclose private interviews, student information, identifiable images, or restricted community knowledge without appropriate permission. Sensitive evidence may be described to the editor for confidential assessment rather than circulated publicly. Substantial new research should normally be prepared as a separate manuscript under the journal's submission guidelines.
Editorial consideration and author response
The editor assesses relevance, clarity, evidence, and potential conflicts of interest, and may seek further explanation or specialist advice. Authors of the original article will normally be invited to respond to substantive comments. The editor will communicate the next steps to the parties. A lack of author response does not prevent consideration of a substantiated concern.
Correspondence is moderated. The journal may request revision or decline material containing personal attacks, unsupported accusations, repetition, or information that compromises privacy or cultural restrictions. If a comment and response are accepted for publication, they will identify and link to the article discussed. Submission of correspondence does not guarantee publication.
Maintaining the scholarly record
A disagreement in interpretation does not by itself establish an error or misconduct. Where evidence reveals a problem, the editor will consider the appropriate response under the journal's publication ethics and correction and retraction policies. Any formal notice should explain the issue and identify the affected article. Discussion and author replies supplement the record; they do not replace a necessary correction or investigation.
