Withdrawal of Manuscript

Withdrawal of Manuscript concerns a submission to Tamumatra: Jurnal Seni Pertunjukan before publication. It applies during editorial assessment, peer review, revision, acceptance, or production, provided that the work has not been published online as part of the journal's scholarly record. After publication, concerns are handled under Correction and Retraction; absence of an issue number or page range does not by itself make an article unpublished.

Submitting a withdrawal request

The corresponding author may request voluntary withdrawal on behalf of all authors through the submission correspondence or the journal's published contact details. The request should explain why the authors wish to end consideration and confirm that every co-author has been informed and supports the request. If support is disputed or cannot be confirmed, the corresponding author should state this openly so that the editor can assess the situation.

The request should provide:

  • The manuscript title and submission identifier, if available.
  • The corresponding author's name and contact information.
  • The reason for withdrawal and any relevant supporting information.
  • The status of communication with co-authors and any immediate concerns about permissions, consent, or identifiable material.

Unnecessary personal information about students, performers, interviewees, or other participants should not be included in correspondence.

Editorial handling and confirmation

The editor reviews the submission's status and the explanation, seeks clarification where needed, and communicates the outcome and recorded status to the corresponding author. Where appropriate, affected co-authors are contacted directly. A request is not confirmation: authors must not assume that withdrawal has taken effect until the editor confirms it. While the manuscript remains under consideration, the authors should not submit the same work elsewhere. Authors may follow up through the journal's contact details if the status remains unclear.

Once withdrawal is confirmed, editorial assessment, review, or production of that submission ends, and the authors are informed. Withdrawal does not imply that the manuscript passed peer review or that concerns about its integrity have been resolved. Any later submission to Tamumatra is considered through the applicable editorial process.

Concerns about an unpublished manuscript

Authors should notify the editor when they discover serious errors in performance documentation, educational observations, interviews, or other evidence, or problems with attribution, copyright permissions, privacy, or consent. The editor may pause consideration, request revision, decline the submission, or end its processing after proportionate assessment. An integrity inquiry may continue where necessary even if the authors request withdrawal. Editorial action needed to protect publication integrity does not require unanimous author agreement.

Disagreement about an artistic interpretation, teaching approach, or aesthetic position is not itself evidence of misconduct. The editor distinguishes scholarly debate from concerns affecting the reliability or ethical basis of the submitted work.

Submission records and public material

The journal records the withdrawal request, decision, and relevant correspondence in its submission records, with access limited to those who need it for editorial administration or an integrity inquiry. Withdrawal is not a request to erase records. If the journal has made preliminary material public, any necessary status notice is dated, identifies the work and issuing party, and links to that material. Identifying metadata and DOI status are updated where available. An already published article follows the journal's correction and retraction procedures.
