Abstract

Tourism in Yogyakarta has shown significant growth in the post-pandemic period, yet most existing tourism information applications remain static and lack interactivity. This study aims to develop a mobile smart tourism application based on spatial data to enhance the accessibility, interactivity, and relevance of destination information. The research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Waterfall model, covering needs analysis through interviews with five tourists, interface and system architecture design, implementation using Flutter and PostgreSQL, and functional and usability testing. The findings show that the developed application is capable of presenting destination lists, structured detail information, interactive map visualization, and a favorites feature that supports user personalization. The testing results indicate that all core features operated with a 100% success rate and an average response time of 1.2 seconds. Usability evaluation shows that navigation is easy to understand, the interaction flow is intuitive, and the presented information is perceived as more dynamic compared to similar applications that remain static. These findings provide practical contributions to the development of smart tourism services in Yogyakarta and strengthen the literature on mobile-first approaches and spatial database utilization for digital tourism information. Future research may increase the number of respondents and conduct large-scale performance testing.
