About the Journal

The Journal of VELES (Voices of English Language Education Society) (e-ISSN 2579-7484) is an academic journal that focuses on enlightening and enhancing the methods of teaching and learning English as a second language. The journal offers a variety of research and articles from specialists, teachers, and practitioners in the area of English language education, aiming to convey modern and fresh viewpoints. This journal seeks to offer profound insights into efficient teaching methods, pertinent curriculum design, and a better comprehension of the process of English language learning through thorough research and innovative techniques. As a result, VELES journal develops into a resource for English language education practitioners and observers who are dedicated to improving the caliber of teaching and learning in the classroom.

Originally, VELES Journal published two issues each year, specifically in April and October. However, since obtaining the  (SINTA 2) accreditation from Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Republic of Indonesia in 2021 (RISTEKDIKTI, Decree No: 5162/EA/AK.04/2021), the number of articles received has increased significantly. To accommodate this influx, starting in 2023, the VELES Journal has increased its publication frequency to three issues per year, released in April, August, and December.

Open Data and Software Publishing and Sharing

The journal strives to maximize the replicability of the research published in it. Authors are thus required to share all data, code, or protocols underlying the research reported in their articles. Exceptions are permitted but have to be justified in a written public statement accompanying the article. Datasets and software should be deposited and permanently archived in appropriate, trusted, general, or domain-specific repositories (please consult http://service.re3data.org and/or software repositories such as GitHub, GitLab, Bioinformatics.org, or equivalent).

The associated persistent identifiers (e.g. DOI, or others) of the dataset(s) must be included in the data or software resources section of the article. Reference(s) to datasets and software should also be included in the reference list of the article with DOIs (where available). Where no domain-specific data repository exists, authors should deposit their datasets in a general repository such as ZENODO, Dryad, Dataverse, or others. Small data may also be published as data files or packages supplementary to a research article, however, the authors should prefer in all cases a deposition in data repositories.
