BookCamp: Model Aplikasi Mobile untuk Digitalisasi Reservasi Camping dengan Integrasi Fitur Komunikasi Real-Time

Abstract

Manual reservation systems based on asynchronous communication such as WhatsApp have become a critical bottleneck in managing camping tourism destinations in Indonesia, resulting in increased response times, data entry errors, and user dissatisfaction. This research aims to design an integrated architecture model that combines real-time reservation systems with live chat functionality to optimize camping tourism service transactions. Using design science research methodology with a combination of development and empirical case study approaches, we implemented a mobile application based on Flutter and Firebase at Pantai Menganti, Kebumen Regency. Testing results demonstrate that the integration of live chat with real-time reservation significantly reduces booking processing time by 281 times (from 4.2 hours to 890 milliseconds), decreases data entry error rates by 100%, and increases user satisfaction scores from 2.8/5.0 to 4.3/5.0 based on the System Usability Scale. Theoretical implications include proposing an eco-tourism service digitalization framework applicable to various destinations, while practical implications encompass improvements in operational efficiency, customer experience, and sustainable revenue models. Research limitations include single-location implementation and limited sample size (n=20 users), however this opens opportunities for exploring scalability across multiple locations, comprehensive evaluation of cybersecurity and data privacy as strategic priorities, and analysis of long-term user retention to inform digital transformation of the eco-tourism industry in Indonesia.
