Publication Fees
1. Introduction
VELES is committed to open-access publishing, ensuring free and unrestricted access to all published research. We believe that open access enhances global knowledge dissemination, benefiting both the academic and professional communities, as well as the general public.
Since VELES does not charge subscription fees, the journal covers its operational costs—including peer review management, editorial production, online hosting, and long-term digital archiving—through Article Processing Charges (APCs). These charges are applied to authors, institutions, or funders for each accepted article.
2. Article Processing Charges (APC)
As of January 1, 2023, all accepted articles are subject to an Article Processing Charge (APC) to support free access for readers while covering publication costs. The APC amount applies only for the current calendar year, and the publisher reserves the right to adjust fees annually.
APC Rates:
- International Authors: USD 0.00 (No APC)
- Domestic Authors (Indonesia): IDR 1,500,000.00
The submitting author is responsible for ensuring APC payment upon manuscript acceptance. The APC does not influence the peer review process, and the invoice is issued only after final acceptance.
Important Notes:
- Before submitting, authors should evaluate their ability to secure funding for the APC.
- No third party may be assigned the responsibility of paying the APC unless formally approved by the publisher.
3. Article Submission Charges (ASC)
VELES does not charge any Article Submission Charges (ASC). Authors may submit manuscripts free of charge, and submission does not guarantee acceptance.
4. APC Waiver and Discount Policy
In alignment with COPE’s ethical guidelines on author fees and waivers, VELES provides waivers and discounts for eligible authors to ensure equitable access to publication opportunities.
4.1 Full APC Waiver
- Authors with an h-index ≥ 15 (Scopus or Web of Science) – Full APC waiver (free publication).
4.2 APC Discounts
- VELES Reviewers: IDR 500,000.00 discount per completed review.
Note: Waiver applications should be requested at the time of submission. VELES reserves the right to approve or decline waiver requests based on eligibility.
5. Additional Information
To maintain scientific integrity and quality assurance, VELES is subject to regular audits and evaluations by the Publication Unit of P3MP (Pusat Penelitian, Pengabdian, dan Publikasi) of Universitas Hamzanwadi. These assessments ensure that editorial and financial processes align with best practices in scholarly publishing.
